Understanding MEA/eMigrate Recruiting Agent Registration

Recruitment agencies sending Indian workers abroad for employment are required to register as a Recruiting Agent (RA) with India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) under the Emigration Act, 1983, tracked through the eMigrate portal. An RA ID and RC number identify a specific registered agency.

Registration is a regulatory status, not a marketplace endorsement. RecruitersFromIndia.com imports and displays official-source registration fields (RA ID, RC number, official name, status) separately from marketplace-added content (description, industries, destinations, logo) that an agency adds itself after claiming its profile — the two are never merged into one field, and a claimed profile cannot silently overwrite the source record.

Indian regulation also caps what a Recruiting Agent may charge a worker as a service fee: currently ₹30,000 plus applicable GST, under Rule 25 of the Emigration Rules, 1983, as amended by the Emigration (Amendment) Rules, 2017. Contracts must be in writing, and payments must be digital and receipted.
